After the success of the 2009 Queensland Championships it was suggested that we nominate an event headquarters where competitors can stay and socialise during the course of the event. Unfortunately there does not seem to be one location that meets the needs of all competitors. Therefore we are offering two event headquarters, one to suit people towing a trailer and one for those without a trailer.

Families or small groups of up to 6 or 8 friends:

We highly recommend renting a fully furnished house at rates cheaper than a motel room or cabin. The overall cost per person is by far the cheapest option for a small group. Prices shown are generally for the whole house, not just per single or twin share. Handy tip - fill in the online form to access the owners details. Then phone the owner and ask if any specials are available for bookings of more than 3 nights. You could be lucky !

The Aspley House $160 per night. $1100 per week. Sleeps 6.
Sadlers Homestay, McDowall. $178 per week. Sleeps 8+.
Other fully furnished StayZ houses close to the lake.

Frog Cottage, Nudgee. $195 per night. Sleeps 4.

Headquarters No.1 - may not be suitable for trailers:

Colonial Village Motel & Self Contained Villas is the first of our two event headquaters. Located at Taigum just 12km from the lake, Colonial Village Motel & Self Contained Villas has a range of motel style rooms suitable for singles to family groups, plus one, two or three bedroom self-contained villas accommodating up to 7 adults.

Reception said they do not have space for many trailers attached to cars, however it is up to individuals to confirm this prior to making a booking.

Headquarters No.2 - if towing a trailer:

Brisbane International Virginia Palms offers a 4 Star experience at Boondall. At 15km from the lake, Brisbane International Virginia Palms is the second of our two event headquaters. Virginia Palms International has 95 accommodation rooms including Single/Double Delux Suites, Twin Delux Suites, Executive Suites and Two-Bedroom Self-Contained Villas.

With ample double carparks, adjacent open space and side street parking, Virginia Palms is better suited to competitors with trailers.
